Tirumala Theerthalu - Part 1 (Kumaradhara Thirtham)

 Hare Krishna!

As discussed before, there are countless Thirthams in Tirumala. It’s very auspicious if we bath in them, at least if we think about those thirthams. Kumaradhara Thirtham is one of the Thirthams. Let’s discuss about that:

There are 2 stories (story doesn’t mean that it’s myth) about this thirtham:

1 . It was said that before, Kumaraswamy (Subrahmanya swamy) used to go to Tirumala and worship Sri Venkateswara Swamy there.

After killing Tharakasura, Kumaraswamy thought he got Brahmahatya Paathakam. Then, Indra advised him to take bath in this thirtham. Kumara swamy then bathed in this Thirtham chanting Om Namo Venkatesaya. After bathing in this Thirtham, Subrahmanya swamy got cured from that sin. As this Thirtham cured the sin of Kumara swamy, this was named as Kumaradhara Thirtham.

2 . Before, an old Brahmin, in search of his son, Koudinya, reached Venkatadri. He was shouting “Koudinya! where are you??”. Sri Venkateswara swamy pity on him and appeared to him. Lord asked “What happened? You became too old and suffering a lot. Do you wish to live more??” Then, he replied “I want to serve my Lord and perform daily rituals. But, my age is not supporting my wish. What to do???”.

Then, Lord Sri Venkateswara held the old man’s hand and took him to this Thirtham. Lord said to take bath in it. After taking bath in that Thirtham, that old man turned to a young one. Sri Venkateswara then showed his Viswaroop to him. He felt so blessed and praised Lord with full of devotion. Lord Venkateswara said “Now perform your daily religious rituals. I’m also bestowing you the enough money to perform those rituals. ”

Then, that man praised Lord a lot and thanked for the limitless boons given by him. He lived in Venkatachalam and performed daily rituals and also donated money to the poor and finally attained salvation.

Lord bestowed many boons to him and also salvation without asking… How can we praise his mercy!!!!!!! Let’s do his service and get blessed by them. Govinda Govinda!

Thirthothsav:

Thirthothsav of this Thirtham is on Magha (According to Telugu Calendar. It’s mostly in the month February) Pournami (Full moon day). If we take bath in this Thirtham on that day then, it also gives merit of taking bath in River Ganga and also other Sacred rivers.

On this day, Prasadam from the Tirumala Temple will be brought here and distributed to the devotees

This thirtham not only removes the sins but also enables us to attain the Lotus feet of Srimannarayan.

In your next visit, do bath in this Thirtham and get blessed by Sri Venkateswara.

May Sri Venkateswara Swamy with Goddess Alamelmangamma always bless us!!!

Om Namo Venkatesaya!!!
