Shri Sanatanam: Names of Bhagawad Ramanujacharya

Sri Bhagavad Ramanujacharya is a well known, great Sri Vaishnavacharya. He did the service of Srimanaarayan through out his life and became an Acharya.

He is worshiped with different names. Let’s know some of them.

1. Ramanuja

A great devotee of Lord Venkateswara, Sri Tirumala Nambi named him as Ramanuja. After the birth of BhagavadRamanujacharya, his uncle Tirumala Nambi came to see him.Tirumala Nambi saw a great glow in the face of the child. With the gods grace, he named the child as Ramanuja.

Rama anuja = younger brother of Sri Ram. Younger brother of Sri Rama is Lakshman swamy. He is known to be the incarnation of Adi Sesh.

This proves that, he is the incarnation of Adi Sesh, a great devotee of Sri Maha Vishnu who never left him.

2. Sri Bhashyakarulu

Bhagavad Ramanujacharya wrote commentary (Bhashyam) for Brahma sutras. And said that to everyone in Saraswathi Pitam.

Even Goddess Saraswathi appreciated Bhagavad Ramanujacharya that his commentary is the best of all other commentaries for Brahma Sutrams. So, that commentary is called as “Sri Bhashyam”. As, it was written by Bhagavad Ramanujacharya, he is also called Sri Bhashyakarulu.

3. Yathindrulu

Once Bhagavad Ramanujacharya gave shelter to his guru, Tirukachi Nambi and his wife.

But, his wife don’t like it. So, she clashed with them. Tirukachi Nambi felt sad, left their house and went away with his wife without informing Bhagavad Ramanujacharya. After knowing this, Bhagavad Ramanujacharya got angry and took Sanyasam. Sri Varadaraja swamy felt happy for this and addressed Ramanujacharya as Yathindra.

4. Emberumaanaar

Once Bhagavad Ramanujacharya met Tirukottiyur Nambi. Tirukottiyur Nambi tested him and finally said Secret meaning of Manthram and ordered not to tell others.

But, Ramanujacharya shouted it in the temple by which all can know that and be a part of Lord’s mercy. By listening this, Tirukottiyur Nambi appreciated Ramanujacharya ‘ Knowing that you’ll get any problem by telling like this, you said this. This proves your helping nature. I appreciate you as “Emberumaanaar”.

5. Godaagraja

Nachiyar Tirumoli is a famous work of Sri Goda devi. In that, she praised Sri Maha Vishnu. In that only she said “Oh! Sundara Bahuswamy, I’ll offer you 100 pots of butter and also Pongali if I get married to Sri Ranganatha swamy.”

But, as after Tiruppavai vratham, she immediately married Sri Ranganatha swamy and there is no chance for her to offer, so she didn’t. After knowing this, Bhagavad Ramanujacharya did that offering to Lord. And after that, he went to Srivilliputhur and worshiped Sri Vatapathrasayi and Goda Devi.

Then, Goda devi addressed him as her elder brother. (As he offered all those which she thought like a brother).
