Out of the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu, why is Ram and Krishna so famous, and why are the Leelas of the other 8 incarnations not mentioned ?
Yes!!! The answer can be understand better if you know some aspects of the stories of all the Dashavatars. Shree Lakshmi Narayan Bhagwaan who is also called as Maha Vishnu Bhagwaan, Shrideva, Satyanarayan Bhagwaan, Tirupati, Vasudeva, Venkateshwara, Perumala, etc. whatever name do you call him by your heart has a special character associated to him and each of his avatars also do have it.
So now coming to the answer :—
There are 10 Avatars of Lord Vishnu
- Matsya
- Kurma
- Varaha
- Narsimmha
- Vamana
- Parshurama
- Shri Ramchandra
- Shri Krishna
- Buddha
- Kalki
Now coming to the question, I will speak on 2 basis :-
- The Significant value of each Avatar.
- Emotional and Life aspects of that Avatar.
So starting with the first :- The Significant value of each Avatar!!!!!
- Matsya :- Signifies an early stage of Life. Life started to be evolve from the ocean. At that time only pisces (fishes) were present on earth.
- Kurma :- Signifies that now the life is coming out of water and is coming on land to face new challlenges.
- Varaha :- Signifies that now the life on land is facing new challenges and developing itself. The carring of Earth in the nose signifies that now the life has started to be spread around the globe.
- Narsimmha :- Signifies that now life is half developed into human and half now also like an animal.
- Vamana :- Signifies now the human is developed on the earth but the dwarf nature of Vamana signifies that humans are there in very small number and size is also small.
- Parshurama :- Signifies that now the humans are developed and have started controlling on earth by defeating each other. But humans are now at this time is like a young angry cave man.
- Shri Ramachandra :- Signifies that now the humans now are civilised and Shri Ramachandra’s Maryada Purushottama character describes that humans have tied themselves and their emotions under rules. The person who now also breaks the rules are given heavy punishment (like that was given to Ravana).
- Shri Krishna :- Signifies humans are now highly civillised and their population is increasing day by day heavily. People are now fighting not for capturing instead is fighting to preserve dharma. Have developed highly knowledgeable texts (Bhagvad Gita, Mahabharata, Divided Vedas into 4 parts).
- Buddha :- Signifies that humans have started wrong interpretation of Holy texts among Hindus which created social distances among humans.
- Kalki :- Signifies that now to restore dharma again humans will start a great war which will led to a heavy destruction but the world has started with a new start and everything is very good now. Nature also have beautified the Earth again with its beauty.
Now I will talk on the basis of life aspects and emotional view of these avatars :-
See in all the avatars of Shri Maha Vishnu from Matsya to Vamana was having somewhat less amount of feelings and emotions envolved. In Parshurama avatar when you see there also feelings are not that much. It was like just fulfilling the duties. No one can consider these avatars as their ideal example. Lord Parshurama seems to be somewhat highly straight forward in his life and is very much angry.
Now coming to :-
- Shri Rama avatar :- Ramayana is full of emotions and character of Shri Rama cannot be described in words. Ramayana is full of feelings, if you see in Baalkaand the feelings and emotions of a child, parents and brothers is shown. In Ayodhya Kaand the vivaha of Shri Rama and Maa Sita is there. In Aranya Kaand Lord Rama and Sita along with Lord Lakshmana have started their Vanvaasa. There Adventures in Dandkaaranya forests and love of Sita Rama in their Vanvaasa are unimaginable. So Beautiful that I cant tell you. In Kishkindha Kaand their story of adventures in Kishkindha. In Sundara Kaand (the most famous) has the story of Hanuman.Yuddha Kaand Shri Rama’s glorious fight with Ravana. Uttara Kaand (Even the most controversial as early Ramayana’s which are there historically and archeologically found don’t have Uttara Kaand) but have a good amount of feelings. Some Adhyaayas of it when I read, I cried like when Shri Rama told Maa Sita to leave Ayodhya (the most saddest part). Another saddest part is when Maa Sita goes into the Earth with Bhudevi.
2 . Shri Krishna avatar :- Lord Krishna’s refrences first come from Mahabharata. The story of Mahabharata is basically diffrent from the early stories. As now Rakshasas are not the most powerful, instead humans are the most powerful. The lilas of Shri Krishna are the most fascinating and are my favourite. The lilas that Shri Krishna performed somewhat fulfills the lilas which this world was lacking as Shri Rama was very disciplined since his childhood. He stoles the Vastras (clothes) of gopis, showing whole universe in his mouth to Yashoda Maiyaa, love of him and Radha Maiyaa (I love their story), dancing on Kaaliya Naag, etc. Mahabharat and other texts dealing with the Life of Shri Krishna fascinates me a great. Even there is a festival celebrated in Varanasi which is based on krishna dancing on Kaaliya Naag which is known as Naaga Nathaiya. He founds the great city of Dwaraka and thousands of diffrent things.
So basically Ramayana and Mahabharata are the most celebrated texts among Hindus and has thousands of emotions and have lots and lots of things to learn. If you see Lord Rama’s and Lord Krishna’s life, its totally like a hell if they had been normal humans. But even in those situations they do the leelas. E.g. see the life of Lord Rama he has to leave his kingdom and with his wife. His wife is kidnapped and has to fight for his wife. After coming to Ayodhya he has to leave his wife. Was away from his children for a long time and etc. Similarly Lord Krishna’s life was like that too. Then also they were successful in establishing Dharma and created a ideal example before us.
That's why Shri Rama and Shri Krishna are the most Important Avatars of Shri Narayana.
Om Namo Narayanaay!!!!!
Jay Shri Ramachandra Bhagwaan!!!!!
Jay Shri Krishna Bhagwaan!!!!
