Why is Lord Rama called Maryadapurshotam ?
Shri Rama is Maryada purushottama !!!! But why?
This is a very common question asked by the people today. First this picture.
There are thousands of reasons but here I will discuss very few which are famous :-
- The Pushpavaatika, Mithila palace
Shri Rama and Shri Lakshmana came here with Maharishi Vishwamita. After they came here, they both use to follow a routine in which they use to do Guru Vandana. Yes, Actually today we don't have such culture due to our great English education by our dear Britishers so we don't follow such great traditions now. They use to do Guru puja everyday. So Lord Rama and Lord Lakshmana went to Pushpavaatika for taking some flowers for their Guru Vandana.
At the same time Maa Sita was also coming from worship of Maa Jagadamba Parvati. There she saw Lord Rama and meanwhile Prabhu Shri Rama also saw her. They started looking at each other and were not able to even close their eyes.
Note:- Tulsidas ji quotes here that they knew that they are the Lovers of Vaikuntha but then also maintains their distance. Why because till now they are not married and for marrying Shri Rama prabhu, Shri Rama has to accept the challenge of Swayamvara.
That's why he is Maryadapurushottma !!!!!
2. Ram agreed to the Vanvaasa promise :-
Lord Rama was very much powerful in Ayodhya, people were in full support of him. Even Maharaja Dashratha told him that I have given boon to Kaikaiye, not you so please go against me, put me in jail and revolt against me.
But what Sri Rama did, he just told. No Pitashri, I will obey your promise to Maa Kaikaiye and Maa Kaikaiye has given me a chance to go and have darshan of Maha Munis who are in forests and who's darshan is even rare by Devtas. Instead of revolting, what he did. He left all his comforts of Palace and was ready for going to Forest. Even though Lakshman's heart filled with hatred for Kaikaiye, but Rama didn't. He then also loved his Maa that much only.
That's why he is Maryadapurushottma !!!!!
3. Rejected every proposal :-
Shri Rama rejected every proposal given by his friends and Maharishis in forests. He always told that now he is a Muni and now he should live like a Muni. From one forest to other and from one village to other village.
He just travelled and never entered any City. He use to send Lakshmana for his work. Rather than going by himself. Even though they were in forests but such a great, peaceful and lovely life they were having. He didn't complained and never got angry with his situation.
That's why he is Maryadapurushottma !!!!!
4. Sees each and every being as same :-
The only thing I am not able to understand is why Shri Rama prabhu didn't hated anyone. I think so that's why I am his bhakta and even being a great Paapi, his blessings are always there with me. In my pain I always cry Hey Rama, Shri Rama. His quality of loving everyone is too good yaar!!!! He is Sharnaagat Vatsala and he didn't refused any refugee who came to him for his help. He ate already tasted or eaten Berries given her by Shabri. Because he is Bhaktavatsala. Even Kevat washed his feets and helped to cross the River. Kevat refused the finger ring Sita maa was giving because he told that we both are kevats. I help people in crossing river and you help them to cross Bhavasagara.
Even after killing Vaali, he gave the promise that I have killed you by wrong way so in next Janma in my Krishna avatar you also kill me like this. Vaali have understand this that he was wrong and his death was necessary but then also Lord gave him this boon. Vaali died saying Jay Shri Rama!!!!
That's why he is Maryadapurushottma!!!!!
5. Even did Antim Samskaar of his enemies:-
Shri Rama did those things which is impossible for all. We see our enemies as our enemy only. But he see them like they are his own. He is did all the preparation of the Antim Samskaars of the Rakshasas. He cried at the death of Kumbhakarna and Ravana. Even he knew that this is going to happen but his feelings and emotions were not able to be controlled by his knowledge. Why ? Because his heart was pure. He taught us that anyone even your enemy is a creation of the Almighty. Respect them. After killing Prahasta, everyone was telling Raja Rama bhagwaan ki Jay ( Hail Lord Rama) !!!!! But what he said “No!!!!! You should tell Prahasta ki Jay, (Hail Prahasta) , why ? Because he died for keeping his promise to his mother. He was a true matrabhakta. Even he respected Kumbhakarna a great. He himself use to tell good bout Kumbhakarna and Meghanaad. Why ?
Because he was Maryadapurushottma !!!!
6. He was not like other kings :-
Do you know what some cruel acts were done at those times by some foolish and Illiterate kings, they use to marry the queens of those queens whom they won. Did Lord Rama was like that ? A big NO. Instead he made Vibhisana the king of Lanka and even saved Rakshasas jaati from Sampoorna Vinaasha (full destruction). Why ?
Because he was Maryadapurushottma!!!!
Thousands of other reasons are there but as I told I will discuss here very few.
